So...

The Cowboys have traded for Adam "Pacman" Jones. Let's break it down shall we? From a purely football angle:
  1. They Cowboys give the Titans a 4th round pick this year and a conditional 6th rounder next year.
  2. If Jones is not reinstated they get the 4th round pick back next season.
  3. If Pacman commits the inevitable fuck-up and get suspended again, the Cowboys get the 4th round pick back the next year.
  4. If the reports are to be believed there is no guaranteed money for Jones.
As I said, from a pure football angle: that is an awesome deal for the Cowboys. They get one of the best cornerbacks in the league and a guy who was second only to Devin Hester in punt returns 2 seasons ago.

All that considered, I still don't want him here. Say he is reinstated and some time during the season he screws up again, and gets suspended again. That is worse than an injury, because you know he won't be coming back, and you know he did it to himself. Plus, he is just a sorry son of a bitch and I don't want him playing for the Cowboys. Others point to TO and Tank Johnson as other troubled players the Cowboys signed recently. In those cases the players coming here seemed to genuinely want to change there ways, and realized the mistakes they made. Adam Jones has done nothing like that. He is damn near defiant in not changing his ways. Where is Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde when you need them?

I want to ride my bicycle...

But I can't. I've had them damn thing for 4 months, and I already broke it. I can't blame it on shoddy craftmanship, or anything else but me. I screwed up the gear shifter some how and I had to make an appointment to get it fixed at the bike shop on Friday I hope they can get it done quickly. Well now I will have to get my exercise from somewhere else, and I don't think playing more Tiger Woods golf is going to do it.

Reunion

This past weekend was my family reunion and for the first time in 20 years I didn’t go. When I was first contemplating this post I was going to say, “It isn’t that I don’t want to go…” But that was exactly the reason I didn’t go. There was nothing at all keeping me in town that weekend. I think one of the reasons I didn’t go was…I haven’t missed one in 20 years. I really enjoy visiting my family, but I want to do something else this year, and go to another part of the country.

Another reason I didn’t go is that most my cousins who are my age hardly ever go any more, and it makes it kind of boring for me honestly. They are the family I grew up with, and they are the ones I really want to see.

Also, I went to the really big one last year. That was a huge 2 ½ day affair, and this year just wouldn’t measure up to that. I do have some regret about not going. There is always people I would like to see, but I don’t feel as bad as I thought I would.

Finite Element Analysis Software

So last week I am coming home from work, and I see a rabbit in our front yard. No big deal rabbits are pest in my area. I get out of my car, and it isn't a rabbit it is a chihauhua. Crap. I gather her up, and she is really friendly. Thank goodness she has her tags. I take her inside the house, and the lab, Buddy is pretty excited. I whisk the chihuahua into my room, and leave her there. I am afraid of what Buddy and the husky, Juno may accidentally do to her.

So, I call the number on the tag, and tell the lady on the other end I have her dog. she comes by quickly and picks her dog up. It ends up being my next door neighbor. I've seen their beagle running around (also named Buddy), but I had no idea they had a chihuahua. She and her kids take their dog home, and I go about my business.

5 minutes later Juno is going crazy in the backyard. I go out there, climb the fence, and the chihuahua is out again! This time I just grab, her knock on the door, hand it to the kid who answers, and just walk off without saying anything.

As for the title of the post, I just used whatever popped up in my "Track Me Not" program

I don't know, waddya you wanna do?

This weekend I am taking care of my Dad's house and dogs while he and his fiancee are in San Antonio. Before I accepted this gig I should have realized how boring it was going to be. Since my Dad moved into his new house he no longer has cable. So no random sports to occupy me. Or any of the other things I could watch. I don't need pay channels, just basic cable would be fine.

I can use his computer, but it isn't mine with all of the stuff loaded on it that I like to do. I did grab a handful of CDs to listen to while I am on his computer, but I forgot my ipod for the other times...sigh. I am glad I brought plenty of things to read. Books, TPBs and such. That is one of the activities I really enjoy when I house sit for someone. I get to catch up a little bit on my reading.

Another point of contention for me is that I don't know this neighborhood that well, so I am not as familiar with places to grab a bite at that aren't fast food or chain joints. Not that I don't go to those places, its just I have them near me.

Bit I just know that I will be pretty bored...

Take cover...

For the second time in less than two weeks last night we had really bad weather here and the tornado sirens were going off.

The first time it happened there was light out, and that was actually kind of scary. As I was leaving work I looked to the west and saw the clouds I knew were tornadic in nature. It was either the remnants of one or the beginnings of one. Once I got home I turned on the TV and learned it was actually the beginnings of a tornado that didn't come together. The sirens were wailing. 10 minutes later the sirens stopped, and it was bright and sunny. That is one of the funny things about tornado producing weather is that it usually blows over pretty quick.

Early this morning (around 4AM) I heard the sirens going off again. I woke up for a bit, and just decided that if a tornado was going to get me, I would be asleep when it happened. When I did get up, a local radio station had one of their antennas knocked out, and power was out to over 160,000 people. The city just a few miles north got winds of over 80MPH. Luckily nothing much really happened here. This storm was also gone in about 10 minutes.

Drumming machines

This is an awesome video of Buddy Rich and Ed Shaughnessy having a little drum off on the Tonight Show. It is just simply amazing to me just how freaking fast they are. Enjoy.
